All selections in this category were recorded and mixed by me in various LA studios. I also played on, produced, composed and arranged the Persian music and Blues Of A Lady Wearing Red.
(More selections to come once I get permission from the composers.)
I recorded and mixed this album at Westworld Recorders in 1983. Tim Mockler was a very talented guitarist, songwriter and producer. He introduced me to backwards recording by flipping over the 2" 24 track tape as is evident on cut #7. We used many recording techniques from the early 80's lost today.
"The New Savoy" featuring singers Mitch Gordon, Earl Brown, Monica Mancini, Ann White and a 3rd male vocalist I don't remember. The rhythm section was "Uncle Festive", a jazz/funk band in LA. Luis Conte was the percussionist. I recorded and produced these tracks at Westworld Recorders Van Nuys, CA.
These are works by composer John Massari that I recorded throughout the 1980's at Westworld Recorders, Rusk Sound Studios and Skip Saylor Studios in Hollywood, CA.
I recorded this session at Westworld Recorders in 1986 with members of the Tonight Show Band. I remastered these cuts from a 1st generation 33 year old cassette. There is wow & flutter and some dropouts but you'll get the idea.
All music was recorded at VOA in either ST-04, ST-B or the VOA Cohen auditorium. Some titles went out live to air while others were prerecorded and mixed in the studio.
These tracks were recorded and mixed by me in VOA's Studio "B" sometime in 2002.
These tracks were recorded by me live to air in VOA's broadcast Studio 4 for the live "radio on tv" show Border Crossings.
All music was written, played and recorded by me into Logic Pro X. (except for a couple live bass & guitar parts...view track for details) All trumpet parts are performed by me.
